2023 Run the Runway 5K

Run the Runway is back! Come out and Join the Northern Lights Triathlon Club on August 12, 2023 at the 2023 Run the Runway 5k!

Run the Runway is a 5k running event held on the ACTUAL RUNWAY at the Fort McMurray Airport!

Starting at the North Terminal Apron (Old Terminal building), we’ll run out onto the taxiway, turn left onto the runway, circle an airport fire truck at the end, run all the way back down the runway, around another firetruck, then back to the start point.

Due to runway closure limitations, all participants must be able to complete the event in under 50 minutes. Anyone who hasn’t passed the taxiway we start on after 25 minutes will be redirected to the apron.

Strollers are permitted, however are required to be running strollers with wheels at least 9″ in diameter. This is to allow for emergency evacuation of the runway through the uneven grassy infield in the event of an aircraft needing the runway for an emergency landing. No bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, etc. are permitted. No dogs or other animals are permitted to attend the event as it takes place inside the secure airport perimeter.
