Mindfulness is the act of being aware of what you’re sensing and feeling at every moment without interpretation or judgment. We have a tendency, due to the busyness of our lives, to live in a different time zone than the present moment; either in the future, through planning or worrying, or in the past through rumination over events, and frequently, judging and evaluating our performance.
Mindfulness sets us free from the habit of living in the past or the future by enabling us to focus our attention on what is happening in the “here and now” and learning to accept our experiences as they unfold. Regular practice of mindfulness meditation has benefits for your overall well-being, including playing a role in the management of anxiety, stress, depression, and sleep disorders just to name a few.
This experiential session will introduce participants to the concept of mindfulness, provide hands-on experience with mindfulness exercises, provide practical tools needed to begin living in a more mindful way. No prior experience with mindfulness is necessary to participate, and no props are required, just a comfortable, quiet space where you can sit.
