Let’s Get Critical: Workshop with Louise Casemore
Location
- 8115 Franklin Ave, Fort McMurray, AB T9H 2H7, Canada
This workshop is presented as part of the Artist in Residence Program.
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
As writers, we are often in the position of receiving feedback – sending submissions, awaiting notes from editors or friends, and hoping (always hoping!) for favourable and useful feedback. With this course, participants get to hop into the driver’s seat of reviewing written material, learning the ins and outs of what makes for effective critique. Generating tools for analysis that can be helpful for creators, teachers, bloggers, or anyone wanting to approach both their reading and writing with more thought and compassion – this exploration uncovers the mechanics of how to rise from knee-jerk opinions to critically informed.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Arts Council welcomes playwright and theatre artist Louise Casemore. Louise is in the final stages of an MFA in Theatre Practice from the University of Alberta, specializing in Playwriting and Immersive Theatre. Her original plays include OCD, Functional, GEMINI, and Undressed, which received a world premiere and two Betty Mitchell Award nominations with Alberta Theatre Projects in 2022. Louise remains active in the national community by way of dramaturgy, teaching, and research. She is also an active member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada.
