The Mural Academy is Phase 2 of the Mural Mentorship Series.
Learn to safely (and legally) use aerosol spray paint and other tools to create incredible street art in a series of workshops led by mural artist, AJA Louden! There are three opportunities taking place as part of this series:
1) MEET AJA LOUDEN on July 29 | 6 pm to 9 pm | Unifor Building (10019 MacDonald Ave)
AJA Louden (pronounced A-jay) is a visual artist of Jamaican-Canadian heritage based in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Treaty 6, Edmonton, Alberta). AJA works primarily as a muralist, and also founded and directs the Aerosol Academy series, teaching people of all ages about art making and art history through the lens of graffiti and street art. 2) MURAL ACADEMY register for one of six 2 hour workshops | July 30 or 31 | Municipal Parking Lot at Corner of Biggs Ave. & Morrison St.
Register for a 2-hour Mural Academy workshop! In this workshop, AJA Louden will teach you how to safely use aerosols and other tools on temporary walls. Workshops start with a 30-minute lecture, safety instructions, then jump into technique and tool demonstration with lots of time for practice and experimentation. All materials will be provided. Limited to Ages 12+.
