WOOD BUFFALO RIBFEST RETURNS WITH A NEW COMMITTEE, FRESH LOCATION, LIVE MUSIC
AND BIG FLAVOUR
Fort McMurray, AB – Get ready for one of the region’s most mouthwatering events. Wood
Buffalo Ribfest is making its return this Labour Day weekend, serving up smoky, saucy, fall-off-
the-bone ribs and three days of music, fun, and community celebration.
This year’s festival will take place at a new location: Centerfire Place and the football field at
Father Mercredi High School. While past Ribfests were held at the Snye, the site is unavailable
this summer due to important work underway to preserve and protect the waterfront for future
community use. The new venue offers an excellent alternative with easy access and plenty of
room to enjoy all the sights, sounds and flavours of Ribfest 2025.
With a newly formed committee chaired by Mike Jones, Ribfest is set to bring new energy and
memorable experiences to the community. From delicious food to live entertainment and family
activities, there’s something for everyone.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit two outstanding local organizations:
• Canadian Mental Health Association – Wood Buffalo Region, which ensures accessible
mental health support in our community through advocacy, education, and frontline
services.
• Local HERO Foundation, which provides 24/7 emergency medevac services by
helicopter, delivering urgent care to remote areas when it matters most.

Ribfest wouldn’t be possible without the support of local businesses and dedicated volunteers.
Sponsorship packages provide high-visibility branding opportunities and help support essential
community programs. Volunteers are also needed to assist with logistics, guest services, and
activities throughout the weekend.
