Play In A Day

Play In A Day returns for Alberta Culture Days 2024!

Get a group together and set out to create a Play In A Day, from idea to stage! Participating groups write, direct, and act in a play created in 24 hours.

Participants will be given a theme, a prop, and a costume piece that needs to be included in the finished play. On the day of, they will have access to rehearsal space at King Street Theatre. Play In A Day finishes off with a free performance in front of friends, family, and celebrity YMM judges!

• Friday, Sep 13 at 7 PM: Participants receive the theme, prop and costume piece at King Street Theatre

• Saturday, Sep 14, 10 AM – 5 PM: Create your play!

• Saturday, Sep 14, 5 PM: Groups gather at King Street Theatre

• Saturday, Sep 14, 6 PM: Free performance at King Street Theatre

A few simple rules

• You are not allowed to use published scripts. Only new, original works accepted.

• This is a family friendly event, so please keep the play appropriate for all ages.

• Performances must be between 10 and 30 minutes in length.
