This coming fall session of the legislature, Danielle Smith’s UCP government is expected to pass the most draconian anti-2SLGBTQ+ legislation in Canada. The magnitude of the threat to 2SLGBTQ+ rights in Alberta cannot be understated. But this won’t have happened overnight.
Before Smith launched her full-on assault on trans rights, there was former premier Jason Kenney and his anti-gay-straight alliance crusade. Joining Pride YYM to unpack how Kenney paved the way for the rollback of 2SLGBTQ+ rights we’re seeing across the country is journalist and authour Jeremy Appel.
