Join in for the first official Read Across Wood Buffalo Day, a community-wide celebration of reading, literacy and storytelling.
Held as part of Alberta Culture Days, this year’s theme is “Many Stories. Shared Humanity.”
Schools, libraries, bookstores, social service agencies, businesses, families and residents across the region are invited to participate by organizing activities that highlight diverse stories and experiences from across Wood Buffalo.
Activities could include author or musician visits, public readings, storytelling events, book donations and exchanges, or children dressing as their favourite literary characters. Participants are encouraged to organize activities that work best for their schools, workplaces, organizations or families.
The day aims to demonstrate how reading can strengthen community connections, expand our understanding of literacy and support people facing literacy challenges.
