Doubt, A Parable is a tightly woven drama, an eloquent, provocative investigation of elusive truth and terrible consequence – it’s compelling and thought-provoking theatre.

Set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt, A Parable explores themes of morality, authority, and the ambiguity of truth. Sister Aloysius, the strict and conservative principal, grows suspicious of Father Flynn, a charismatic and progressive priest, after he shows special attention to Donald Muller, the school’s first Black student. Convinced that Father Flynn’s behavior is inappropriate, Sister Aloysius embarks on a crusade to expose him, despite lacking concrete evidence.

Caught in the crossfire is Sister James, an idealistic and kind young teacher who struggles to reconcile her faith in the goodness of others with the seeds of doubt planted by Sister Aloysius. Meanwhile, Mrs. Muller, Donald’s pragmatic mother, provides a nuanced perspective, prioritizing her son’s well-being above all else.

Through sharp dialogue and tense confrontations, the play masterfully examines the gray areas of certainty, justice, and trust, leaving audiences questioning where the truth lies.
