Join us at Borealis Park for lunchtime reading of Inkonze – a collection of Dene teachings, stories and traditional knowledge – by local author Lorraine Hoffman. This will be followed by a Q & A session.
A light picnic lunch (free) will be served before the reading for the first 100 participants, on a first-come first-served basis. No registration required.
Inkonze: The Stones of Traditional Knowledge is a groundbreaking ethnography rooted in over 10,000 years of Indigenous history from northeastern Alberta.
Lorraine Hoffman is a proud member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and granddaughter of Josephine and Gabriel Mercredi of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta.
Through interviews with Elders and deep connection to her ancestral land, Lorraine gives voice to the teachings, stories, and cultural knowledge that shape Dene identity. Her work stands as a powerful testament to the strength, continuity, and spirit of her people.
