Dikhwaere is a traditional choral music and dance originating from Botswana. It has a rich history deeply rooted in Botswana’s cultural heritage, and can be seen during many cultural celebrations, including New Year’s and Christmas. The dance originated from harvest season, as dikhwaere performances were held to celebrate the end of a successful harvest season.
The dance is a large part of Botswana’s cultural heritage, bringing together people in celebration, friendly competition, as well as companionship.
Join the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo and learn how to dance dikhwaere! By attending this workshop, participants will also be entered to win a gift basket that will include a unique item related to the cultural background of this workshop’s facilitator!
