The Northern Lights Health Foundation (NLHF) is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated 7th Annual Hospital Bed Races, proudly presented by Birch Mountain Enterprises. This thrilling event will take place on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 in Fort McMurray.
The Bed Races are a fun and entertaining family event, pitting teams of local businesses, industry, sporting clubs, friends and anyone (18+) who want to race to win the coveted Hospital Bed Races Golden Bedpan Trophy – and bragging rights – all in support of local healthcare.
Teams are made up of 4 people and one 150-pound sandbag “bedbug.” Teams will race head-to-head in 50-meter sprints to the finish line while dressed in themed costumes and/or corporate gear. The races are executed in randomly drawn heats. All teams are guaranteed two races with the fastest teams advancing. Prior to race day, teams are required to fundraise a minimum of $2,000.
