Location
- 441 Sakitawaw Trail, Fort McMurray, AB, Canada
Funded by the ACWB, join Stacey Grant and our in-kind partner McMurray Métis Local 1935 for an afternoon of traditional floral beadwork.
Welcome to the Traditional Métis Floral Beading Circle! Join us in person at our in-kind partner McMurray Métis Local 1935’s Kahkiyaw Gathering Place for an afternoon filled with history, kinship, and cultural connection. This event is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your skills in the art of Métis floral beading, a tradition passed down through generations.
Participants will learn foundational stitches and techniques while exploring the history and significance of floral patterns in our culture. This welcoming circle is a space for connection, storytelling, and creativity. You’ll leave with a small beadwork project and a deeper appreciation for the artistry, patience, and intention that define this treasured Métis tradition.
We are deeply appreciative of the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo’s support in funding this event for Alberta Culture Days, and for the generousity of our in-kind partner McMurray Métis Local 1935’s and their donation of event space, tool rental, and technology use in the Kahkiyaw Gathering Place.
